Welcome to July’s Monthly Weight Loss Update post. Here I document my starting weight, my target weight and my current weight. I also talk about the highlights and lowlights of the previous month and how I hope to continue motivating myself.
Starting Weight – 10st 8lbs
Current Weight – 10st 3
Target Weight – 9st 7lbs
Total Weight Lost in June - 5lbs
At the beginning of June I decided it was time to lose some weight. I had lost about 2 stone about a year and a half ago, but it had slowly started to creep on. You can read my first post on the reasons for this and why I decided to do something about it now - HERE.
Highlights of the month
The main highlight of the month definitely has to be the weight loss, even though it is a lot less than I envisaged. By now I should have lost 8lbs, not 5lbs. But I am really pleased that I have manage to lose SOME weight without changing my diet drastically. I know that if i started to restrict myself to much, I would quickly fail. I want to eat chocolate, biscuits and cake now and again, I just need to do it in smaller portions.
For example, I allow myself ONE biscuit per day. I have this in the evening with a cup of coffee. I look forward to the biscuit and the fact that I am allowing myself this 'treat' means that I don't feel the urge to eat them at other times of the day. Long may this continue.
Lowlights of the month
I seemed to start my diet at the wrong time. The timing coincided with a multitude of birthdays of work colleagues. This means there were cakes being offered left, right and centre. I know I should have refused the cakes, but I didn't and this and a couple of meals out that have taken place (for special events) has resulted in yo-yoing weight.
The fact that I have managed to lose some weight by just being aware of exactly what I am eating and drinking will continue to motivate me. Yes, there are days when I could just grab a biscuit or a cake, but by being honest with myself about whether I really need it or not, it is allowing me to continue to eat exactly what I want but just in smaller amounts. This in turn means that I don’t feel like I am on a diet, which is great.
The main motivation behind this is my holiday. I also have an additional motivation too. We have been invited to a 60th Wedding Anniversary party, which is taking place as a meal on a river cruise. I am really looking forward to this and it means I will be able to wear one of my beautiful dresses. I don’t very often get the opportunity to dress up so I need to be able to get into the dress and feel confident in it too.
