Well, the big day is over for another year and lots of my family, friends and colleagues are just as excited about today - the start of the sales season!
I’m excited too, but not in the same way. I do not need or want any more clothes. I am happy with my iPhone and do not feel the need to upgrade just because there may be a discount. I do not need or want any additional technology, make up, perfume or any of the usual things people are going to queue for hours to get.
I will be going to the sales though – the card sales! If there is one amazing money saving tip I can pass on to you at this time of year, it is to buy all the following ready for next year:
- Individual Christmas Cards
- Packs of Christmas Cards
- Wrapping Paper
- Gift Tags
- Gift Bags
- Christmas Crackers
You will find the above at usually half their normal price – a genuine sale. A sale of stock that was in the shops before Christmas, not stock that has been bought in especially to have a ‘sale’.
Even Charity shops reduce their Christmas cards after Christmas. Last year I managed to buy some lovely cards from Oxfam for a fraction of their normal price. I even checked with the lady behind the counter that Oxfam would still receive the same amount of ‘donation’ and she confirmed they would.
So, you will find me in Card Factory today – a trip out disguised as a ‘walk’ with the family as we are lucky enough to have a branch in walking distance.
These will all be packed away and stored with the Christmas decorations ready for next year. This way I can’t forget where I’ve put them!
Leave me a comment and let me know if you managed to get any bargains this year.
