I have to admit to cheating a little with my Five Frugal Things this week. There are 5 and they are frugal, it’s just that they didn’t all happen this week.
I was ill and in bed and just didn’t have the energy or brain power to write the blog post that was due about 2 weeks ago. In fact, I couldn’t stand to do anything. I couldn’t even watch TV.
When I did feel well enough to venture out of bed, I then couldn’t stand the brightness.
Luckily I recovered in time to go on my holidays and now it’s time for Five Frugal Things again.
1. Warehouse Dress for £1
A new charity shop has opened up locally and I decided to call in for a quick look. There were big signs in the window stating that everything was £1. I’m not sure if this was an opening offer or not. I’ll have to check when I go back again.
To my surprise there was this lovely Warehouse dress on the rail AND in my size. I still couldn’t believe that I was going to be allowed to purchase it for £1 until the assistant and rung it through the till. I’m so happy with my bargain.
2. 4 Free Main Meals at Pizza Express with Nectar Points
Although we don’t shop at Sainsbury’s much, our points do still add up. When I received an email offering to use Nectar points to purchase voucher codes for cinema tickets or pizza, I jumped at the chance.
The offer was 1000 nectar points to get a voucher code for 2 main courses at Pizza Express. This could be used for pizza, pasta or salads (not the specials though). As each main course costs around £10-£11 each this was a great saving.
You could also order and use more than one voucher per table, so I ordered two. We bought a drink each and a dessert, although you could really save if you just ordered drinks – as the table next to us did – but the desserts were just too good to miss.
3. New Bargain Phone Case
I bought this brilliant new phone case (affiliate link). It's a bargain and works brilliantly.
I bought the clear one but they do some nice designs too. My work friend recommended it to me. The case is a full body case. I had never seen one of these before.
As it covers the whole phone (one part goes around the back and one over the front) there is no need to fix those fiddly screen protectors on. I am yet to meet someone who can successfully place one on their screen without any bubbles. If you can – nice to meet you lol!
4. Free Biscotti
My Husband and I’s weekly treat is our visit to our local Costa Coffee at the weekend. He likes to read the paper in peace and I take my laptop and work on the blog and side hustles.
On this visit they were giving out free Biscotti. This is another thing that I have never had. To be honest, I didn’t think I would like it but it turned out to be delicious. I won’t be purchasing it regularly, although I might investigate making some to have at home with a coffee.
5. Discounts with NUS Extra
I purchased my NUS Extra card a few months ago and have not really used it. Poundland and Primark (my favourite shops) don’t accept it lol!
A trip in to town with Eldest (whose favourite shops are the most expensive ones!) to get some shoes, clothes and a bag for school saw me saving around £15 on purchases. I have also used it at a couple of other places now too. I just need to get in to the habit of asking if the shop I am in takes it, as sometimes I forget.
