Well, having sat down to write this week's Five Fabulously Frugal Things post, I am wondering if I actually have five?? Let's see....
1. Cycled all week
Yes, the cycling appears again and , believe me, it was certainly no hardship this week with the wonderful weather we have been having.
2. Free parking for the Football
It was the last game of the season on Sunday and we were off to the match. As I have mentioned previously, we are lucky to have access to parking at my husband's workplace.
3. Cheap Food and Drinks at the Football
We also like to take food and drinks from home, rather than pay the extortionate prices inside the stadium. During the winter, we have even taken our own pies, cooked at home and wrapped in foil and placed inside an insulated bag. They stay warm enough to eat when we get there.
However, I cannot drink the coffee that they serve there - it is way too strong for me. During the cooler weather I take my own in a flask and during the warmer weather I sometimes buy those Iced coffee drinks that you find in the chilled section of the supermarket. These are usually around £1 each but you can snap them up when they are on offer for 50p.
As it was the last game of the season, everyone who attended received a free 'beer' or 'soft drink' and a free Programme. These didn't save us money, as we wouldn't normally have purchased them anyway, but it was a nice touch.
Going to the Dentist is not particularly frugal, however, I was lucky enough to get away with just the check-up for £20.60! In fact, I was in the chair for only around 60 seconds, which is the shortest time ever. Usually there is a bit more prodding and poking and the inevitable cleaning to be done. This time, it was not required - and the reason - he had advised me to use those mini interdental brush things to clean in between my teeth. My teeth are so close together I cannot get floss between most of them, so he recommended trying the brushes. These come in a range of sizes and slip in between the bottom of your teeth. He said that they had made a massive difference.
I searched for them on Amazon and these are very similar to the ones I use except mine are from Wilkos and may be a bit cheaper, although I don't think I get so many, so might need to look into these.
So that was my week and it did turn out to be frugal, after all. How did you do?
