Five Fabulously Frugal Things I Have Done This Week

Welcome to my weekly update where I like to account for any successful money saving we managed, any money making ideas I tried, how many No Spend Days (NSDs) happened (which is a personal challenge) and any ‘Good Buys’ I made.  Although my ultimate goals are to save money and make money, there are many times when money does have to be spent, I just like to make sure that I have got the best deal for the best quality.

1.Money Saving

Our next travel adventure will be at Christmas and we needed to book airport parking and, as a treat, a hotel near the airport for the evening before the flight.  We booked both going via Quidco saving another £4.59 on purchases we were going to make anyway.

2.Money Making

We received some more vouchers from Tesco this week.  This time there are three and they relate to three specific weeks in the run up to Christmas.  I don’t buy an awful lot from Tesco’s these days, however, the first one is for £8 off a £40 shop, so this may be worth investigating.

3.No Spend Days

I like to challenge myself to at least 5 No spend days per week and did manage 5 this week.

4.Good buys

Again, I ended up in Poundland –there seems to be a theme happening here!  It has become a Christmas tradition to hide chocolate tree decorations on the Christmas tree.   We put them on whilst the kids are at school and when they get home, they get to search for them –even the 15 year old still likes to do this.  Anyway, tree decorations can be quite expensive for the amount of chocolate you get so I thought I would try the ones in the image below.

5.Saving/Using the Change

The change this week has been put into my change pots.  I save 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p and 50p pieces all year and count this up at the end.

That’s it for this week.  Let me know, in the comments below, how your week went.
