Monthly Goals for April 2018
This year instead of making New Year’s Resolutions, I am making monthly goals. New Year’s Resolutions seem too final. How often do you make a resolution only for you to give up completely or your priorities change. That’s why I am going to have monthly goals. These seem far more achievable and can be dynamic throughout the year.

Goals for April 2018
March was a bit of a disaster all round as far as my goals went.
On 1 March I started a new role at work and walked straight in to one of the busiest periods. This meant I needed to do overtime (which is good for the budget). Luckily, I am able to do any overtime at home but it did mean that I had a lot less time to spend on my blog.
I also ended up with a cough and cold which wiped me out for over a week. What with the illness and the overtime, I feel like I've hardly achieved anything. However, I made sure that I really focused any spare time I did have and made sure to get my content written for April.
Family and Home Targets for April 2018
This didn't happen at all. However, I can feel Spring in the air and I am also off work for a couple of days over Easter, so I can feel some major decluttering coming on. I am going to set aside at least one day of my holiday to focus on lots of areas in the house. I like to declutter annually and I am naturally drawn to springtime.
I am looking for a meal to replace our pie meal. Tuesday is Pie night and we have it with mash, veg and gravy. We vary the flavour of the pie each week. Again, this warmer and sunnier weather is making me want to dust off this meal and replace it with something else. I have no idea what, though. It has to be quick and cheap, so my goal is to flick through my recipe books for inspiration.
- Look through recipe books for a meal to replace the pie meal
Overtime (both for myself and my husband) affected the amount of time we had at the weekends, along with my illness. I am hopeful though that we can fit something in over Easter. We are long overdue some time together away from the house and the electronics!
- We will look for somewhere free or cheap to visit - maybe it's time to get my food flask out too.
Money Saving Goals for April 2018
I have lots of money saving goals but the ones listed here are the ones I have chosen to focus on this year.
Reduce grocery spend
• Again, I am aiming for a reduction of £10 per week. We currently spend around £100 per week for a family of four. This includes all meals (including packed lunches for 4) and all cleaning materials and toiletries. You can see my Reducing My Grocery Spend Spreadsheet.
• Project Kitchen – you can read find out more on my Project Kitchen Post – I hope to save £10 this month
Money Making Goals for April 2018
Money Saving Journeys
No paid sponsored posts this month, but I had a serious lack of time and it has made me refocus a little. At the end of the day, I run my little blog in my spare time. I would like it to become a source of income, however, I have to be aware of the limited amount of time I have.
I have made the decision that I will not be actively pursuing sponsored posts, but I will consider those that contact me directly. I think this will give me the best of both worlds. A small income without me spending valuable spare time hunting out the opportunities.
Side Hustle 1 - My Second Website
As above, the lack of time has made me look at everything I am trying to do. I am, therefore, not setting any goals for Together In One Place and will instead spend as much time as I can on this whenever I can.
Side Hustle 2 - Creatives and Media
Again, I am not setting goals, I will work on this side hustle as and when time allows.
Side Hustle 3 - Surveys
As I have mentioned before, I absolutely love Prolific Academic. I earned a lot less in March compared to the previous two months just because I was unable to log in as often. I did cash out £79.51 though, which included approximately £40 from last year and the rest is what I have earned so far this year.
You can also follow my progress on my Prolific Academic Spreadsheet.
- The target to check in everyday definitely stays for April
Ad Hoc Side Hustles
This stays in and it will be my focus after my blog and before my other side hustles. If I can get this finished, it will become a source of passive income, whereas some of my other side hustles require constant updating or content adding. Maybe I need to think of other passive income streams I can add in??
- Aim to finish my eBook for publishing at the beginning of May

Social Media Goals
You can find Money Saving Journeys on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Bloglovin' and Google +. This year I am going to focus on building engagement across the three platforms where I have the most followers – Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
I'm really pleased there has still been an increase in followers for March. I was acutely aware that I hadn't been spending as much time on Instagram as I normally would. I hope to be back on it again in April.
I did manage to write and create images for all of my April blog posts in advance. I also got all the images done, the content uploaded and scheduled and my social media planned and scheduled. All things considered, this was a great achievement.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is something I knew absolutely nothing about when I started my blog. I still have a very long way to go but it is something that has been on the back burner. When you start a blog there is so much to learn and the SEO aspect just overloaded my brain.
Nothing happened on this and I am not planning anything for April either. I need to focus and although this is important, I need to wait until my head is clear as this is a subject that I have to spend a lot of time researching and reading about in order to understand.
It is also one of the jobs where you try to do one simple thing and before you know it, you have spent the whole day trying to complete the task!
